Space is the Place: Superimpose + LAMA

Thursday, October 1, 20:30, entrance € 10

SUPERIMPOSE
Superimpose is one sound – Matthias Müller and Christian Marien have been developing their collaborative research into sound since 2006 – incorporating concerts in Europe and the US, and an intense rehearsal process that forms the basis of a clarity, depth and connectedness in their playing. Their improvisations are the result of two independent voices, acting, fusing, diverging and shifting, and cutting their own ways whilst moving in the same direction. This symbiosis redefines boundaries and roles, and creates ONE distinctive sound.

Matthias Müller: Trombone
Christian Marien: Drums

LAMA
The ‘Dutch’ trio LAMA with members from Portugal and Canada, has an extremely authentic sound. The mixture of electronic sound samples, improvised acoustic music, classic melodies and an original formation of strong personalities on trumpet, double bass and drums makes the music of LAMA highly adventurous. Expect mysterious songs, with a lyrical, somewhere romantic twist and humorous touch. LAMA plays, played and recorded with great improvisers as Chris Speed and Joachim Badenhorst, but in De Ruimte they will perform with the core trio.

Susana Santos Silva: Trumpet
Gonçalo Almeida: Bass
Greg Smith: Drums
