BOI AKIH QI(with Yedo Gibson, Luc Ex en Marcos Baggiani)
Boi Akih is the innovative brainchild of singer Monica Akihary and guitarist-composer Niels Brouwer. This distinctive duo has been performing an unusual, cross-cultural repertoire since 1996. The music is a fusion of influences from Indonesia, European jazz, improvisation, elements of Indian classical music and African traditions. Music in which Akihary’s sultry and yet sonorous voice contrasts beautifully with the warmth of Brouwer’s abstract guitar lines. Boi Akih continues to develop their lovely, unique sound.

The duo loves to bring (music) cultures and people together like in the Qi project, where Boi Akih is supported by three band members: strong musical personalities from the Amsterdam impro scene.

Monica Akihary: Vocals
Niels Brouwer: Guitar
Yedo Gibson: Saxophone
Luc Ex: Bass guitar
Marcos Baggiani: Drums
