Going Native: U.S.A.

Monday, March 24, 18h, film starts at 21h, € 8 for a two course meal, € 10 for three courses

Every week Going Native takes you on a trip to a country, with a local dish and a movie to match it. This week we are going to the U.S.A. The food will be as American as George W. Bush driving an open Cadillac with a cowboy hat on:
a Waldorf salad to start with, beef or lentil burger with fries as a main, and a vanilla/red pepper or a mint/banana milkshake. You can supersize your meal for the meager sum of € 1. We can only hope that they serve the fries with mayonaise. In case you don’t have the chance to stop by an ATM between Schiphol and De Ruimte: we’ll accept two dollars for a euro.

crybaby

We’re screening a movie from king of kitsch John Waters: Cry-Baby. Johnny Depp is the juvenile delinquent Cry-Baby who falls for uptown girl Allison. Allison likes Cry-Baby, but what will their friends and families say? Shakespeare may have written it down more eloquently, but this movie is a lot of fun.
