Gringo’s Kitchen: cali-tex-mex soul food

Gringo’s Kitchen serves cali-tex-mex on Sundays. Corn and flour tortillas topped, stuffed and served alongside the most luscious of ingredients. The Gringo makes its own tortillas and queso blanco, is a big fan of the local beers served at De Ruimte, and will bring along some equally lovely local hot sauces.

Fancy name for salt-boiled green soybeans in pod.

QUESEDILLAS
Two homemade blue corn tortillas filled with a creamy black bean spread, roasted chili mushrooms and a mild cheese. Topped with grilled corn salsa and coriander. Garlicky braised cabbage on the side.

PECAN PIE
Flaky pie crust, roasted pecans, gooey filling. Grandmother’s recipe.
