Space is the Place: Han Bennink night (solo/duo/trio!)

It makes sense that Han Bennink will perform on our stage He was one of the founders of the typical Amsterdam free improvised music (or New Dutch Swing) and still is a huge inspirer for lots of musicians who played and will play in De Ruimte. Han plays like a child: unpredictable, with energy and with an enormous amount of fun. But Han is also a wizard of rhythms, incredibly complicated or unrivalled simple.

For this Han Bennink Night we asked three of our favourite musicians to play with Han. The evening starts with a solo set of Han, which are always enervating. Bass clarinettist Ziv Taubenfeld is the most seen musician our stage and will do a duo for the first time with Han. And we’ll end with a spectacular snare trio, together with Onno Govaert and George Hadow.

We asked Han what he loves to eat and found out: Han is fond of a simple pasta with cheese. So that’s what the Space is the Place cook (John Pastinaak) will serve for you tonight: a simple pasta with season vegetables and pecorino, for € 8,50. And for € 3,50 extra John also serves a dessert: pure chocolate cake with Sinterklaas spices! Dinner is served from 18-20h.
