Space is the Place: Chris Corstens Quartet EP-release + Jesse van Ruller solo

Thursday, January 10, music starts 21:00, €9 / students €6

CHRIS CORSTENS QUARTET
As their debut album ‘Treiffel’ came out five years ago already, so we’d say it’s about time for a follow up. Luckily, this concert is dedicated to the release of their new EP ‘Junglebumps’, so we can’t wait. In the meantime, they have not been sitting idly, both as a group, and individually. So we’re confident that their catchy blend of jazz, improvisation, humour, and anything that happens to wander into the mix, has remained intact.

‘…just enough quirky Dutch elements to leave a smile on your face, but the musicians never overdo it’ Dave Lynch (Allmusic).

Chris Corstens – tenor, soprano sax | Oscar Jan Hoogland – piano | Harald Austbø – cello | Martin van Leusden – drums

JESSE VAN RULLER SOLO
Guitarist Jesse van Ruller belongs to the European upper class of modern jazz musicians and is known for his fabulous technique and refined playing. Tonight Jesse plays solo with own pieces, music of others and mainly improvisations, something he seldom does.
