Luc Ex and Massimo Pupillo go a long way back, to the beginning of the nineties, when Puillo booked concerts for The Ex. In De Ruimte they combine the sounds of their bass guitars as a duo for the very first time. For the second set they’re joined by young gun Onno Govaert.

Luc Ex
Luc Ex was one of the driving forces behind The Ex for almost 20 years. During that period, he became acquainted with the variable dynamics of heaving punk rock venues as well as gigantic theatres in the United States. He also played with jazz greats, world musicians, and well-known rock bands. He increasingly focuses on the implementation of his own musical composition concepts. This development can be traced through the groups that he initiated from the 1990s onwards: Roof (with cellist Tom Cora), 4 Walls (with vocalist/trumpeter Phil Minton), Sol 6, and Sol 12.

Massimo Pupillo
Massimo Pupillo is well known within the rock scene and especially through the work with ZU. Zu has existed for over 15 years and has an average of 70 gigs pr year, also collaborating with No Means No, The Locust, Lightning Bolt, Thurston Moore and many more.

Massimo’s playing is quite physical in appearance. With the bass plugged straight in the amp, no special effects, he kicks the music in such a way no one can beat. Seldom has one experienced a bass player who can squeeze as much power and loudness just out of one instrument.

Onno Govaert
While still in high school Onno Govaert (1987, Kaatsheuvel, NL) was already playing with such well-known Dutch jazz musicians as Eric Vloeimans and Harmen Fraanje. He moved to Amsterdam to study jazz drums and graduated cum laude from the Conservatorium of Amsterdam in 2009.
