LILLY JOEL
This duo came a long way, playing songs, improvising, slowly changing setups, different size, different keys, different mics, new concepts, meaning new music, adapting the gear, then again the music… imagine a chameleon enjoying it’s identity crisis.

Lynn Cassiers – Voice
Jozef Dumoulin – Keys

MARCELO DOS REIS solo

He’s one proeminent voice in the new generation of european improvisers. All his work have been widely acclaimed, and beside all the achievements, was nominated one of the best five guitar players at the El Intruso – 8th Annual International Critics Poll. His idiossincratic approach to the guitar, puts him as one of the key figures of the Portuguese improvised music scene. Luckily for us, Amsterdam is a new part of his scene.

LUIS VICENTE/ONNO GOVAERT/SEPPE GEBRUERS

Luis Vicente first picked up a trumpet when he decided to participate in a Philarmonic Association. Later he had private classes with Tomás Pimentel. He’s come a long way since then, and we’re happy that way led to De Ruimte. He attended the Escola de Jazz Luís Villas Boas/ Hot Club de Portugal, during these years, he also participated in workshop with musicians such as Evan Parker, Mário Laginha, David Binney, Jesse Davis, Julian Arguelles, Ohad Talmor, André Fernandes, Pedro Madaleno e Phil Grenadier. Subsequently, he’s become a well-known Portuguese jazz musician, and is spreading his music all around the globe.

Drummer Onno Govaert has become an important figure in jazz in seemingly no time. Already in 2013, Govaert (1987) received a carte blanche performance in the Bimhuis. As a regular guest of De Ruimte, he’s got one of the most prolific sound in the scene.

Seppe Gebruers (1990) is a Belgian pianist, improviser and composer. The homeland music scene is already acquainted with his name, due to his delivered work in the eclectic Jazz septet ‘Ifa y Xango’ (winner of ‘Jong Jazztalent Gent’), the piano duo with Erik Vermeulen, named ‘Antiduo’, Bambi Pang Pang feat. Andrew Cyrille (who played with Cecil Taylor, Coleman Hawkins, John Coltrane and others), the pop project ‘Mount Meru’ and his solo project. Tonight, however, will see him perform in a whole new formation.
