RUISBURO: Supernoctural + crush.crash

Wednesday, November 30, 20:30, entrance € 7

A WAY A LONE A LOST A LAST A LOVE A LONG THE… – Supernoctural
Audiovisual performance of Finnegans Wake by James Joyce by artist Maria Lanari, scenographer Katinka de Jonge and musician Sjoerd Leijten. A hybrid of elektronic and analogue means is used to ‘faithfully unfaithfully’ translate what is often seen as the most difficult work in the history of literature, but which is the product of a rich, bizarre fantasy, heavily inspired by visual arts and music.

Supernoctural was part of the project Waywords and Meansigns by American writer Derek Pyle, an audio interpretation of ‘The Wake’. Now Leijten’s and Lanari’s part of the project is expanded into an audiovisual performance.

This project is supported by the AFK (Amsterdam Fund for the Arts).

KUrKKU – crush.crash
Songcycle in which all sounds come from one female voice and live electronics. With a Wii game controller, laptop, foot pedal and five brightly coloured speakers, KUrKKU chops up her voice and sings songs about absurd, awkward and obsessive loves. Whirlwinds, industrial machines and insects seem to surround you one moment, the other you are suddenly taken along by a dreamy choir.

KUrKKU (Evelien van den Broek) is based in Amsterdam (NL). Aside from singing with Wii controllers she also composes for film, modern dance, live performance and visual art, and is part of the band Daisy Bell. To know more check out this website.
