SPACE IS THE PLACE: Drone Acoustics + Andy Moor & Yannis Kyriakides + Mutamassik

Wednesday, June 8, start concert 20:30, Entrance € 10 / CvA € 7

DRONE ACOUSTICS
Much attention is focused on drones as ‘eyes in the sky’. However for people on the ground, the sound of the drones is much more pervasive. In this project, designer Ruben Pater (Drone Survival Guide) and composer Gonçalo F. Cardoso (Discrepant) join hands to focus on the auditive aspects of drones. What engines do drones have, and what do they sound like? Compositions focussed on the conceptual (sound) life and death of an aerial drone machine in the 21st century.

ANDY MOOR & YANNIS KYRIAKIDES
Andy Moor and Yannis Kyriakides lovingly deconstruct and reassemble their favourite rebetika music in a set of 9 pieces that encompass a wide scope of musical vision. This is an unusual and original take on the so called “blues” music of the Greek diaspora of the early 20th century.

“Merging Moor’s explorative post-punk deconstructions with dusty vinyl samples and experimental backings that reference traditional Greek music and bluesy lamentations makes for unique and unusual results.” – Signal to Noise Magazine)

MUTAMASSIK
Mutamassik is the solo project of producer/musician/dj/artist/synesthete Giulia Loli. She cut her teeth in New York City & Cairo in hip hop & jungle dj crews, as turntablist and producer. She pioneered the previously unheard style – Baladi Breakbeat in 1995, founding Sa’aidi Hardcore Productions in Brooklyn and publishing/label KMT BBB USA. Moved on to develop an intense, expansive, instrumental sui generis.
