Belated Christmas celebration or premature New Year’s Eve? We have no idea. What we do know is that we will lighten the dark winter days with party music to jump and dance to, while darkening the bright holidays with some heavy drones and punk. Also there will be a peculiar performances on recorder (blokfluit), EWI and homemade instruments, a dance performance, hip hop involving vegetables, and possibly Christmas songs. This evening takes place in Ethiopian / Eritrean restaurant Semai, right around the corner of De Ruimte.

TEENAGE TITS
Teenage Tits is an Amsterdam hardcore punk band that has been around since the early 90s in many different formations. Known – among many things – for their legendary yearly shows as the closer of King’s Day at Cafe the Minds. Their current line-up has been going strong for 8 years and they have just finished recording their first full-length LP last year. Now in the process of being mixed, they are looking to release it somewhere in 2023 on vinyl. The Tits bring a lot of controlled chaos to the stage and fiery showmanship; their blend of not-your-typical hardcore punk and improvisational elements is contagious – and exactly what your mother warned you about!

MANGALITZA
Two driving forces in the Amsterdam (improv) music scene play together as a duo. Both musicians are initiators of numerous adventurous expeditions and are active in many ensembles and groups.

Dodó Kis – recorders, EWI | Nora Mulder – Piano

CABBAGE EGO DEATH
Cabbage Ego Death is an electronic solar punk duo from CabbageTown. They improvise with live beats and cabbagy lyrics, ranging from introspective songs about melancholic cauliflowers to energetic pleas for more Kimchi. Listen to readings from the book of cabbage, and dance until your ego splatters all over the floor.

MICHIEL KLEIN & STEFFAN DE TURCK
M. Klein & Steffan de Turck are making new music for a new city; an old story. Sonic bricolage, escaped hiss and other forms of musical hauntology. This day is the day when these sounds for a new city are made public. “I want to be a stone / Not living, not thinking / A thing without warm blood in the City.”

NJITSOJ
Drone, noise, scrambled field recordings and rhythmic chaos with some beats.

Njitsoj is a Tilburg based musician, who studied cello at the conservatory but now makes his music with modular synths, sometimes in combination with cello.
Njitsoj is a versatile musician, always open to new ideas and collaborations. Currently he is working on a performance with modern dance and playing with two other musicians.

JOSKE KONING / NICO CHIENTAROLI / JORT FABER
An exciting combination tonight of three creative spirits: actress/singer Joske Koning will perform together with Nico Chientaroli on synthesizer & dancer Jort Faber, who is very active as a dancer in Amsterdam & beyond, but quite new to collaborate with musicians from the Amsterdam improv scene.

Joske Koning voice | Nico Chientaroli synths | Jort Faber dance

MOSHI MOSHI
Sisterhood behind the decks! MOSHI MOSHI is an Antwerp dj duo that spins the best of garage, punk, rock ‘n’ roll and new wave.

SCRAM C BABY
Scram C Baby is an Amsterdam indie and garage rock band, formed in 1992. The band is known for its short, unruly pop songs. Records and performances often move in all kinds of directions. In addition to the positive attention from the national music press, their story is also one of low album sales, too much booze and, in some periods, scarce performances. From their second album Et Maintenant … Le Rock (1996) their CDs were released on the Dutch record label Excelsior Recordings.
