OPENING GROUP: WILLIAMS-MITCHELL / PETERS / VAN HULZEN

DAVID WILLIAMS-MITCHELL
David Williams-Mitchell is an Amsterdam based film composer and musician, bringing a
classical training in Central Asian art traditions into contact with modern Western creative
forms. David is an accomplished player of the Uyghur tanbur and sattar lutes, as well as the
Iranian setar and the 12 and 6 string acoustic guitars. He uses the resonance of open
tunings and a unique picking technique to create modal, structured and free improvisation
soundscapes rich in harmonic overtones.

FINN PETERS
Finn Peters is an acclaimed saxophonist/flautist and film composer with an impressive
resume of collaboration with artists including Bill Frisell, Sam Rivers, Matthew Herbert, Tom
Skinner and many more. Finn’s award-winning albums have been critically acclaimed by the
UK press and broadcast media.

ROBBERT VAN HULZEN
Robbert van Hulzen is a drummer, percussionist and electronic musician active in a very
wide range of contexts; from creating art installations with the MARC collective to
collaborating with dancers, theatre companies, he is as comfortable in art rock music as in
free improvisation. Robbert has also studied percussion in India, and has training in gamelan
music.
