THE 2ND STOP IS JUPITER: MISHAKOSMOS II

The second Friday of every month: 2nd Stop is Jupiter! Dancing to the wildest live music in town. Tonight the 2nd edition of Mishakosmos – exploring the world of Misha Mengelberg in its diverse forms.

OSCAR JAN HOOGLAND / HAN BENNINK
Long lasting duo of Oscar Jan Hoogland and the legendary Han Bennink celebrate a double birthday! 40 / 80 !
Their release Goede Reis! last year on the ICP label was a big celebration of the pianist/drummer impro language Amsterdam is famous for.
Now there is an extra reason to celebrate the music as Bennink turned 80 this year and Hoogland reached his 40’s.

Oscar Jan Hoogland – piano, electric clavichord | Han Bennink – drums

FELICITY PROVAN 5TET
Felicity Provan will perform with her 5tet, exploring the freedoms of the voice in combination with other instruments.

Expect poetic narrative and songs, lyrical melodies with rhythmic momentum. The sound is playful, reflective with hints of the theatrical as it moves between collective improvisations, solos, composed material, text and surprising moments of group acapella. These performers with their distinct personalities create a vibrant sound which travels to the delicate and wild.

Felicity Provan – cornet, pocket trumpet, voice, compositions, text | Han Buhrs – voice | Ada Rave – sax, clarinet, voice | Harald Austbø – cello, voice | Marcos Baggiani – drums, voice

THE AMBUSH PARTY
The Ambush Party will cumbivicate Misha Mengelbergs music to an “impossible to predict and impossible to resist” cumbia groove party full of surprises.
Guaranteed to raise a smile and get you moving. Natalio Sued reveils the smooth singer in him. Harald ‘celloman’ Austbø is more than more on his cello and vocal skills. Marcos Baggiani is the ultimate latin groover and sharp turn improviser at once. Oscar Jan Hoogland keeps Misha’s spirit alive behind the piano!
