Every week Going Native takes you on a trip to a country, with a local dish and a movie to match it. This week we’re going nowhere: we’ll have Dutch food, and a Dutch cult classic. On the menu: three types of stamppot (mash), three types of gravy and three types of meat. There will also be a vegatarian version of these meaty classics. For dessert we’ll have a very creamy type of yoghurt called ‘hangop’. The dishes are as Dutch as windmills and wasting time in a coffee shop, but knowing chef Kai Hasty he will give them a twist.

This week’s film takes you back to Amsterdam in the eighties. What a glorious decade that was. Amsterdamned is written and directed by the dutch king of horror Dick Maas. You’re in for a very typical Amsterdam experience, as detective Eric Visser (Huub Stapel) and a serial killer scuba diver take you on a wild tour across the city’s canals. We can only hope that Eric catches this mad fish before he catches his girlfriend and twelve year old daughter. This film definitely beats going on one of these canal boats.
