Naakt in Noord: Bird in a Glasshouse

Sunday February 1st, sauna 16-23h, concert at 20.30

Does the name Bird in a Glasshouse sound familiar? We certainly haven’t forgotten their show last year (you can listen to it on the Mixcloud player below) and we’re glad to announce another concert.

“Atmospheric jazzy songs and crystal clear vocals .” Bird in a Glasshouse is anything but a typical singer-songwriter. Instead of a guitar or piano, she performs on a violin which she also uses as double bass and percussion instrument.

Bird in a Glasshouse, alias Femke Ravensbergen, makes pop-folk with a touch of jazz and trip hop. She uses a violin and loop station, a device on which you record and play live instantly, and a computer. With her clear voice and acoustic instruments, Femke creates her own world. Texts and stories were gathered on her many travels from Drenthe to South America and came back with her to Amsterdam. She went on musical trips through Italy, Spain and Croatia with the folk- swing band Amarins & le gatte negre. The result is a musical atmosphere that is mysterious, powerful and joyful.

As always on a Sunday evening the sauna will be hot, so come prepared with flip-flops, a towel, and diving goggles if you want to end your sauna experience in the canal. Entrance to the sauna is €6. The concert is around 20.30. We will kindly ask you to put some money in the hat for the musicians.
