Alkaloid & Mami Wata live

Friday, May 22, 21h, entrance € 6, first concert 20.30

DE RUIMTE offers its stage to two acts, different in their approach but similar in the overall atmosphere they create:

Alkaloid is an experimental electronic music project that has know many forms. In its current formation, combining Tom Besuyen’s with the sounds of David Van Gils’ guitar, expect an intense, dark, but also groovy atmosphere with a lot of room for layered improvisation and danceable clubby beats.

Their first EP in this configuration, Live By Accident, has just come out on The Hague label antilounge.

Mami Wata is a young and upcoming band with an ethereal yet organic sound. The band is influenced by electronic pop and R&B, and combines traditional Indian music with Malinese blues. The delicate vocals have a trancelike quality, reminiscent of artists such as Björk and Kate Bush. This makes for a surprising live set, that will haunt you, occasionally confuse you and hopefully charm you.
