Calvin Johnson in concert

Sunday, November 1, 21h, entrance € 9

Underground legend Calvin Johnson will grace our stage! Johnson gained fame playing Punk, early Hardcore, lo-fi and indie records on a show on the Olympia based radio station KAOS. He’s been a key figure in the beginning of the modern independent music movement and he’s been very active in the vibrant Olympia music scene for decades. In 1982, he founded K Records, the label that released early records by Beck, Modest Mouse, and Built to Spill, amongst others.

As guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and founding member of the bands Cool Rays, Beat Happening, The Go Team, Dub Narcotic Sound System, and The Halo Benders, Johnson explored a wide range of musical genres, whilst staying true to his roots in the underground.

This concert is part of a small tour to celebrate the Candybeetle Dwells-project by artist Willem Kolvoort. The project includes music by, amongst others, Mark Lanegan, Roald van Oosten, Afterpartees, Fred Cole of Dead Moon, and by Johnson’s band The Hive Dwellers. John will play an acoustic set.
