PIERRE BASTIEN
French gentleman born 1953, Pierre Bastien builds his own machineries, at the cross between music and visual art, that blends live trumpet sounds with screen projections of on-site, mechanical sound sculptures in a very poetic way. His work is described as “a timeless sounding orchestra, both futuristic and slightly dada, conjuring ancient traditions in its surprisingly sensuous music.” Bastien has been called a “mad musical scientist with a celebrity following” by The Guardian. With collaborations with Pascal Comelade, Robert Wyatt, Aphex Twin to name a few, he is one of the most influential experimental musicians working in the field. His new album will be released on Morphine records this winter. Performing with his new live set : “Silent motors”.

YURI LANDMAN
Yuri Landman is a man with many talents. Starting his carreer making and selling comic books and playing in a number of bands, he took up an interest in building instruments. He built instruments for bands such as Liars, Sonic Youth, Half Japanese and dEUS. In De Ruimte we’ve seen him play on a seven meter long metal snare and a drum kit made out of PET bottles. With his duo Bismuth hee also performed in our sauna. Landman has been exploring the possibilities of amplified snare instruments for years and is currently focused on building instruments from singing bowls and other metal objects. Now on stage with his first mechanical installation.
