An exciting Space Impro evening again! The renowned bass / piano player Ernst Glerum will play at Sexyland World with his latest version of Glerum Omnibus to present their newest album. Next to that we will have two solos: by the young improviser Chaerin Im and drummer Mees Siderius.

CHAERIN IM
Chaerin Im is a South Korean pianist and improviser based in Amsterdam and Seoul. She has recorded and performed with many talented musicians including Pablo Held, Ben van Gelder, Reinier Baas, Jasper Høiby, Anton Eger, Ernst Reijseger, and Sun-Mi Hong to name a few. She can be found at different jazz festivals and venues with various live contemporary music throughout the whole of Europe.

She released an experimental improvisation album “The Back Of Beyond” in 2022 as a co-leader with producer Song youngnam under a South Korean record store/label, Sounds Good Store.

MEES SIDERIUS

Mees Siderius (1995) is a percussionist and composer. Fascinated by the concept of ‘infinity’, Mees searches for continuously long tones and sound concepts with his drums. His performances revolve around repetition, building kinetic rhythmic momentum and minimalism.

Inspired by his father’s eclectic record collection and the DIY mentality of the Amsterdam improvisation scene, Mees forges rhythmically layered sound sculptures that adapt perfectly to the moment. His passion for innovative percussive textures and collaborative energy led him to the art of improvisation and interdisciplinary performance. As co-founder of the BUI (Promotion of Utrecht Improvisation) foundation, he organizes ‘Freeplay’ sessions and ‘site-specific’ music performances. In addition, Mees shares his knowledge as a teacher of musical production processes in the Musician 3.0 course at the Conservatory in Utrecht.

GLERUM OMNIBUS TRIO TRIBUTE
The latest version of Glerum Omnibus, with Ernst Glerum, piano, Anja Gottberg, double bass and Giacomo Camilletti, drums.

A preview of the soon to be released CD “Trio Tribute”, an ode to legendary piano trios from the history of jazz, such as those of Bill Evans, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Abdul Ibrahim, Misha Mengelberg, Horace Silver, Jaki Byard and others. Glerum made a selection from his record collection and pays tribute to his favourite trio pieces.

Ernst Glerum, mainly known as a double bassist for leading Dutch jazz and improv groups (Misha Mengelberg, Han Bennink, Benjamin Herman) has always remained faithful to his great love, the piano.
